We were a social club in the Rochester, NY region whose members have an interest in ballroom and social dances. The club started in 1973 as the British American Club with members interested in British culture. Over time, the club's focus has moved fully to ballroom dancing resulting in the members voting to change the club's name to Rochester Ballroom Dancing in 2021. Because of declining membership and rising costs, we closed the club in Fall 2025.
We held monthly dance events in the Spring and Fall for club members and their guests with live bands playing the music. These events were held at various venues in the area, and for the last couple of years at the Damascus Shrine Center in Webster, NY. Our events were scheduled as dinner dances. Members could also come just for the dancing.
Club members spanned the range of dance skills from beginners who knew only one or two basic steps to seasoned dancers who have taken many lessons and a few members who were past ballroom dance instructors. Dancers, no matter their level of dance skill, enjoyed our monthly events.
